IDC Architects receives "Leading With Integrity" award for data center design excellence

An IDC Architects project for healthcare provider The Regence Group has received a "Leading With Integrity" award. The award was presented at a First Annual Supplier Award luncheon hosted by The Regence Group to honor outstanding vendors.
Two years ago, The Regence Group asked IDC Architects for assistance in identifying electrical problems in two of its data centers, in Tacoma, Washington and Salt Lake City, Utah. The goal was to increase reliability and add capacity for future expansion, while reducing energy consumption. Facility assessments identified the issues and provided a comprehensive evaluation of the two data centers.
Following the two facility assessments, IDC Architects developed a strategic master plan for the Salt Lake City data center and campus electrical infrastructure to guide the client's future planning. We performed a comprehensive evaluation of electrical system capacities, historical load analysis, system configuration, and the condition of equipment.
Other valuable insights were gained related to mechanical system components and architectural building systems. These included the need for seismic restraint of both data center infrastructure and equipment, evaluation of life safety systems and addition of base isolation units for server cabinet seismic protection.
As a result of that assessment, Regence entrusted IDC Architects with the electrical redesign and renovation of the 24/7 Salt Lake City data center. Through this data center flows all of the information that allows Regence to support its 3 million members.
