PORTLAND, 2 February 2009—IDC Architects (IDCA) will be presenting at the upcoming Technology Convergence Conference, to be held February 19th at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, California.
Mr. Sigurd Anderson, P.E., LEED AP™ and Mr. David Seger, P.E., LEED AP™ will present “Data Center Design: Application of Advance Technologies and Exterior CFD Airflow Modeling” (2009 Track B Speakers, 11:15 am-12:00pm). The presentation shows the parallels between advance technology facilities (such as semiconductor fabrication facilities) and today’s mission-critical data centers. Presenters will also demonstrate the benefits of exterior CFD modeling as a tool for integrating architecture and engineering design.
Mr. Anderson is the IDCA Director of Critical Facilities, with 28 years of experience in the management and design of advanced technology, industrial, and power facilities. Projects he has been involved with include data centers, microelectronics facilities, telecommunications, utility substation design, and electrical power generating facilities. Mr. Anderson holds a M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Integrated Manufacturing, and he is a Professional Electrical Engineer in Alaska, Oregon, and Washington; he is also a Professional Control Systems Engineer in Oregon.
Mr. Seger is the Principal Mechanical Engineer for the IDCA critical environment mechanical engineering design staff, with 25 years of experience in various projects for industries specializing in critical environments. He has overseen data center facility designs in the U.S. and internationally. Mr. Seger has presented at various data center conferences in the United States and internationally. He has recently co-authored, with Andy Solberg, P.E., an article on the benefits of using computational fluid dynamics for evaluation of the impact of the outside environment on the design of data center facilities. The article, “Economizer performance: Applying CFD modeling to the data center's exterior,” may be found at: http://searchdatacenter.techtarget.com/tip/0,289483,sid80_gci1311225,00.html
The Technology Convergence Conference, hosted by TELEDATA, provides an environment where IT, facilities, telecommunications, and other technology professionals can come together to exchange ideas and best practices about the latest technologies in data centers, telecommunications, building management systems, audio visual, networking, and security.
