PORTLAND, 30 January 2008 — IDC Architects is excited to be an exhibitor and presenter at the upcoming Data Center World Expo 2008, to be held March 30 to April 3, 2008, at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Mr. Timothy Meier, AIA, President of IDC Architects, and Mr. Scott Barton-Smith, Architect, will present Digital Design Comes of Age: "The Digital Architect," (Educational Session F07) which shows how advancements in digital design software have streamlined the architectural and engineering process, from conception through facility operation. Learn how these tools provide pre-emptive opportunities for more informed, timely decision-making in the early stages of a project. Building information modeling (BIM) allows for coordination of the architectural and engineering systems into a virtual building simulation and can be leveraged beyond the design process into construction and building management. Allowing stakeholders to digitally explore, experience, and validate design decisions reduces risks, saves costs, and adds significant value to the project.
Timothy G. Meier, AIA: Mr. Meier is the IDC Architects Business Unit Manager and President. He has been involved in all phases of project development from master planning through design development and construction supervision.
Scott Barton-Smith, AIA: Mr. Barton-Smith has 13 years of experience in a wide variety of projects, including data centers, medical, biotechnology, and other high technology projects. Mr. Barton-Smith has served as architectural job captain and project architect for the past several years specializing in design, document coordination, digital document production, and construction administration. He holds a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Minnesota and is a registered architect in the State of Oregon.
The Data Center World Expo conference has welcomed professionals from hundreds of data centers, from some of the biggest corporations, nonprofit organizations, and academic institutions in the country. No matter what city or who's speaking on what subject, the same thing is heard over and over from attendees: How important it is to be with 1,000+ other professionals, sharing successes and frustrations and making great contacts.
