PORTLAND, 14 January 2008 — IDC Architects was awarded the design of the Portland State University (PSU) Science Building 2 project, located in the heart of this major urban university in Portland, Oregon.

This major upgrade and potential addition to one of the largest buildings on campus is slated to become the centerpiece of PSU's new Science Research and Teaching Complex.

For over a year, IDC Architects has been working with PSU on planning for the project. IDC Architects, along with other consultants, contributed to the 2006 Building Advisory Committee Final Report. In 2007, IDCA provided a concept design with advanced building information modeling (BIM) to arrive at the best solution for a university whose student enrollment is the largest in the state.

The project scope includes a seismic upgrade, building systems replacement, lab remodels, a new hazardous waste facility, and a potential multistory addition with laboratories and a student commons. This is IDC Architects' first project in the city core of Portland.

PSU Science Building 2 represents yet another Science and Technology-driven project in which IDCA applied a people-centered approach to research lab design. The project bears fruit of a two-year collaborative relationship, built on IDCA's broad range of integrated services and technical capabilities specifically suited for academic environments.
