ProMOS
Taichung Science Based Industrial Park, Taiwan
When ProMOS decided to build a new campus in the Taichung Science Park in Taiwan, they asked us to create an identity for their facility that would strengthen their corporate brand. Our multidiscipline team worked closely with the ProMOS staff to define, design, and document the facility that would support their goals of maximizing the output capacity of the site and providing a "world class" image of a leading dynamic random access memory (DRAM) manufacturer.
The design team's goal was to deliberately design ProMOS' new complex to convey the appearance of a modern and nimble company moving quickly and confidently towards the technology of the future. This kinetic quality is inherent in the contrast of the three-story fab/bridge building with the nine-story curved office, which leans towards the future like the prow of a ship.
The facility's high-tech appearance is reinforced by an exterior material palette of metallic silver panels, gray colored glass, and salt-and-pepper granite. Clean, modern lines are further sharpened by contrasting horizontal solar fins on the office with vertical fins and recessed stairwells in the fabrication buildings. Key design elements include a four-story bamboo atrium, a central dining room and café, a 325-person auditorium, and a recreation center with an outdoor sports court.
