Dubai Silicon Oasis is planned as an innovation-driven technology community that will advance Dubai's goal of diversifying its economy and reducing its oil dependence. The master plan we developed creates a technology community that is synergistic in nature. The plan was designed to support the idea of companies and institutions located close to each other in order to enhance business efficiencies while reducing travel times and costs. We also created a business plan that is based on this concept of a synergistic community.

To foster an environment that sustains itself, technology-related facilities are clustered around a central urban core which includes apartments, service shops, restaurants, schools, a hotel, recreational facilities, and the Dubai Institute of Technology. To enrich the experience of living and working in the community, a variety of housing types has been created for employees and their families. Each of the residential neighborhoods is centered around a neighborhood park, pool, or social center. To encourage an active lifestyle, living and work places are connected by a network of bike and pedestrian trails that meander throughout the community.
